Today is the day the adventure starts. Getting up at 3:30AM to catch a 7:30 flight to Ft Lauderdale. Met Keith at the airport and we caught our flight. Arrived in Ft Lauderdale 15 minutes early, good start. Our shuttle van picked us up in a timely fashion and took us to the motel. The next step was to get the bikes from Fedex. That is when the plan started to fall apart. We checked the tracking status and discovered that bikes were in Pompano Beach. We put in a request to find out why the bikes were in Pompano Beach and not in Hollywood where they were supposed to be. We then decided to go to lunch. We walked up the street and found Grampa's bakery and restaurant. If you are a fan of Guy Fieiri's Diners, Driveins and Dives then you know that his restaurant was on one of his shows. Keith did refer to it as Diners, Drive-ins and DUMPS which made me laugh. Lunch was really good and we headed back to the motel to check on the bikes. Keith was able to get the local number for the Fedex office in Hollywood. He called them and they said they did have the bikes! What a relief.
We walked the 2.2 miles down to Hollywood and claimed the bikes. The Fedex folks were great and allowed us to put the bikes together in front of their store. They even took care of the empty boxes. After asssembling the bikes we rode back to the motel for a total of 2.2miles so far.
We dècide to go back to Grandpa's for dinner. After walking the mile or so we discovered that Grandpa's is closed on Monday night. We turned around and walked back towards Hollywood to an Italian restaurant we had spotted on our ride earlier. We weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised to find and outstanding meal. The chef even came out from the kitchen to talk to us. It was a great meal.
We walked back to the motel and turned in for the night.
